The innovative TI-Nspire™ handheld learning device and the allied
software from Texas Instruments are designed to generate opportunities for
classroom exploration and to promote understanding for learners (and their
teachers!). This unique opportunity to exploit multiple linked representations
allows the investigation of a wide range of topics in the maths and science
classroom.
Five different representations share data using various layouts and formats:
Algebraic representation can be shown using Calculator and Graphs & Geometry
Numerical representation is possible in both the Calculator and the List & spreadsheets
options
Statistical representations are demonstrated by the Calculator and Lists & Spreadsheets
and Data & Statistics
Written representation can be made on the Notes pages allowing both the
setting of problems and the recording of solutions enhancing opportunities
in include Literacy targets in a lesson
Graphical and geometric representation comes in the Graphs & Geometry
pages
View the same user interface (menus, icons and navigation) on the TI-Nspire
handheld device and in the TI-Nspire software allowing integration with Interactive
Whiteboard presentations, and for students to work on the computer, offering
both whole class and personalised learning opportunities from the same platform.
Ideal for maths and science lessons that cover algebra, geometry, trigonometry,
early calculus, statistics and financial capability.
Memory: 27.8MB.
High resolution display: 240 x 320 pixels on a high-contrast display allow
easy viewing of information, including split screen capability (4 views).
Create, edit and save work in files within a familiar folder structure.
Supports Data-logging for real life graphs and for science experiments.
Built-in USB port supports quick TI-Nspire handheld to handheld communication,
and flexibility to connect the handheld device to a computer or other presentation
technology.
Graphing: Function/Parametric forms, multiple functions, various graph
styles, contours, plot, Zoom and Trace, Tables of Function Values, Zoom:
ZoomBox, ZoomIn, ZoomOut, Zoomfit.
Statistics: one and two variable statistics, regression models, distributions,
hypothesis tests, stored column formulae, traceable scatter plots, combinations,
permutations, random numbers, named lists, goodness of fit, spreadsheets,
stat variables storage.
Matrices: Matrix mathematics.
All managed from a simple, clear menu driven platform.
TI-Nspire™ Computer Software
TI-Nspire™ Computer Software for Maths and Science is the software component
with the same functionalities as the TI-Nspire handheld learning device. Thanks
to TI-Nspire Software, seamless creation and transition between teacher and
learner of classroom materials is possible:
Teachers can use the computer software to create materials for learners
using handheld devices and/or the software.
Learners can easily transfer their work from the handheld device to the
computer to pass it to teachers for assessment – Assessment for Learning
in practice!
